CdS thin films growth by ammonia free chemical bath deposition technique

► CdS thin films are deposited by ammonia-free chemical bath deposition. ► Films have hexagonal structure with (101) preferential orientation. ► Growth begins in the Volmer-Weber mode and changes to the Stransky-Krastanov mode. ► CdS quantum dots are formed in the late stage of growth.
