Low-temperature synthesis of ZnO nanorods using organic-inorganic composite as a seed layer

► ZnO nanorods are synthesized by low-temperature hydrothermal method. ► Zn/SDS composite was used as seed layer for the nanorods growth. ► The nanorods are highly oriented in the c-axis direction. ► The length and aspect ratio of the nanorods can be controlled by hydrothermal conditions.
