Asthma is one of the most common, potentially serious diseases in pregnant women. Asthma symptoms can adversely affect pregnancy outcome. Thus, the main goal of asthma treatment in pregnancy is to prevent/reduce the risk of disease exacerbation and to achieve and maintain optimal long-term lung functions of the mother to avoid the hypoxemia of the child. There is no evidence regarding pregnancy as contraindication to steroidotherapy when maternal asthma needs to be treated by steroids. The consequences of mother's uncontrolled asthma are more dangerous to the foetus than applied drugs. The overview of the literature concerning the asthma management in pregnancy has been done.
