Mise en évidence d'un Candida albicans atypique

A patient was hospitalized in the Service of Maxillofacial Surgery and Stomatology at Trousseau hospital (Tours, France) for an osteitis of the anterior part of the upper maxilla. A granuloma was removed by surgery and analysed on Candida ID2, ID32C system (bioMérieux® SA), CHROMagar Candida (Paris, France), sunflower-agar medium, Bichro-Dubli Fumouze® test (Fumouze Diagnostics), API 20C AUX system (bioMérieux® SA) and PCR amplification, identifying Candida albicans. Phenotypic tests showed that the colonies aspects, closely related to Candida dubliniensis, in first analysis, had several characteristics different from C. dubliniensis and C. albicans. Analysis by PCR amplification giving that it was a C. albicans, the source infection would be an atypical C. albicans.
