Allelopathic activity of the Baltic cyanobacteria against microalgae

► We investigated influence of cyanobacterial metabolites on green algae growth. ► Allelopathic interactions between cyanobacteria and green algae was observed. ► Anabaena variabilis and Nodularia spumigena have no influence on Chlorella vulgaris viability. ► Cell immobilization techniques could be useful in allelopathy studies.
