Modulation of flavonoid and tannin production of Carpobrotus rossii by environmental conditions

► Carpobrotus rossii flavonoids are located within the photosynthetic tissue. ► Flavonoid production is increased under conditions known to cause oxidative stress. ► The latter include excessive light, reduced water availability and low soil potassium. ► Both sub- and supra-optimal soil NaCl causes oxidative stress in C. rossii.
