Testing the use of quartz 'micro-hole' photon-simulated luminescence for dating sediments from the central Lomonosov Ridge, Arctic Ocean

► New method of numeric dating for Arctic Ocean (AO) sediments. ► Micro-hole photon-stimulated luminescence (MH-PSL) applied to quartz grains in central AO. ► MH-PSL dating overcomes previous polymineral fine-silt age overestimation from AO core tops. ► Medium- to coarse-silt quartz is preferred for future dating of AO sediments.
