Daily accumulation rates of marine debris on sub-Antarctic island beaches

► Marine debris was collected daily for 4 months on sub-Antarctic island beaches. ► There was an approximate order of magnitude difference compared to monthly collecting. ► Accumulation rate was significantly related to high tide heights and wind. ► Daily indices of kelp and pumice were significantly related and to marine debris. ► Debris often had barnacles (Lepas sp.) north of the Antarctic Front; not south of it.
