Tidal flushing and wind driven circulation of Ahe atoll lagoon (Tuamotu Archipelago, French Polynesia) from in situ observations and numerical modelling

► A high resolution 3D hydrodynamic model of Ahe atoll lagoon is implemented. ► The model is validated using 1 year of integrated in situ measurements. ► Ahe is a wind-driven, tidally and weakly wave-flushed deep lagoon. ► The model can be used to study biological processes, such as larval dispersal.
