Water characterization in three industrialized harbours (Vigo, Bilbao and Pasajes) in North Coast of Spain

► Vigo and Bilbao ports presented an anthropogenic enrichment of Cu and Zn in water. ► Pasajes port showed a dissolved Zn gradient towards the internal part of the estuary. ► Fluorescence of organic matter did not explain metal ligand concentrations.
