Application of entropy analysis of in situ droplet-size spectra in evaluation of oil chemical dispersion efficacy

► A new statistical information-theory based entropy analysis of droplets has been proposed. ► Entropy analysis was applied to group multi-modal droplet-size spectra into different groups. ► A generalized linear model was applied to identify factors controlling droplet-size spectra. ► Each group of spectra was corresponding to a certain level of oil dispersion efficiency. ► This method may provide a field operational tool to evaluate oil dispersion efficiency.
