A survey of trace element distribution in tissues of stone crabs (Menippe mercenaria) from South Carolina Coastal Waters

► This study provides baseline data on trace elements in stone crabs from coastal South Carolina. ► Element concentrations differed by tissue, with higher levels in hepatopancreas and gill. ► Concentration differences for elements were related to collection site of stone crabs. ► Metal concentrations in the edible tissue, stone crab claw, were all below historical US FDA LOCs.
