Stabilization of garnet in metamorphosed altered turbidites near the St. Eugene lead-zinc deposit, southeastern British Columbia: Equilibrium and kinetic controls

► Metamorphic garnet occurs in altered rocks adjacent to the St. Eugene deposit in SE British Columbia. ► Garnet was stabilized by ~ 100 °C due to increases in Mn and Fe in the altered rocks. ► Pressure-temperature conditions of formation were 3.6-4.0 kbar, 490-510 °C. ► Kinetics affected the development of the metamorphic mineral assemblages. ► Garnet is an indicator mineral for hydrothermal mineralization under greenschist-lower amphibolite facies conditions.
