Intramolecular charge separation in spirobifluorene-based donor-acceptor compounds adsorbed on Au and indium tin oxide electrodes

► Fluorene donor-acceptor derivatives were adsorbed at Au and indium tin oxide. ► Surface photovoltage measurements were performed with a Kelvin-probe. ► Strong intra-molecular charge separation was observed. ► SPV signals depended on ambience conditions.
