Immunoprotective activity of a Salmonid Alphavirus Vaccine: Comparison of the immune responses induced by inactivated whole virus antigen formulations based on CpG class B oligonucleotides and poly I:C alone or combined with an oil adjuvant

► High doses of inactivated virus Ag induced full protection against SAV challenge. ► The full protection was associated with production of NAbs. ► CpG/poly I:C enhanced protection in the Low Ag groups without correlating to Nab levels. ► The CpG/poly I:C formulations upregulated IFN expression and enhanced NAb production.
