► Health effects of switching from cigarettes to snus (Swedish type moist snuff) are reviewed. ► Switchers had consistently lower rates of cancer and heart disease than those who continue to smoke. ► Switchers had rates of cancer and heart disease similar to those who quit smoking. ► The results are consistent with an earlier review finding no increased risk of cancer and heart disease from snus use.
