Large-scale oil-in-ice experiment in the Barents Sea: Monitoring of oil in water and MetOcean interactions

► Ice and oil drift and spreading of oil in high ice coverage have been monitored. ► Oil drifted with the ice and remained contained between the ice floes. ► Measured low concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons in the seawater (<5 ppb). ► Estimated hazard of dissolved oil implied that the acute toxicity was low.
